PTA Initiated Tele-Centre Project
(Pakistan Telecom
Monitoring Desk)
Islamabad: Pakistan telecom
regulator PTA has launched a tele centre
project with the name of “Rabta Ghar”
(Connecting houses), scheme across the
country to provide the newest
telecommunication and internet
facilities in rural and far flung areas
of Pakistan.
According to a statement issued here by
PTA which said “Under the scheme 400
tele centers will be established in the
first phase for which the equipment
worth of
Rs.50, 000 each will be provided free of
cost”.
It further said that “these telecentres
will be provided to those individuals
who are unemployed with at least
intermediate qualification. They will
arrange a shop or a room of 10x12 feet.
Females of rural areas fulfilling the
criteria may also apply”.
It further added “Major telecom
operators of country have pledged their
support to the PTA for setting up these
tele centers including telecom giant
PTCL and Mobilink GSM (supporting 100
Rabta Houses), Ufone GSM (50),
Instaphone (15), Intel (10), Worldcall
(payphones in all Rabta Markaz) while
the PTA will be sponsoring (125)
bringing the total to 100”.
