Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones
Tahir Ramzan

The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy has always won the hearts for its well known firm controls, including the satisfying environmental puzzles set in its stunning levels. The series' control scheme has proven itself to be served as a model for countless other games that also feature an energetic protagonist like the prince. The same great quality of admirable interface continues in third game of the series The Two Thrones. In this game, the trend and tempo of the whole series remains there, you will find yourself again running on the walls, jumping, flipping, and vaulting your way up. The game has fiendishly designed environmental puzzles, as well as vicious fights with enemies and an improved combat system which was introduced in the previous part of the series Warrior Within. The prince has a few new tricks up his sleeve too, but longtime fans of the series still feel right at home.

The Two Thrones linked to the previous two versions, begins with the prince returning to Babylon from the Island of Time with the mortal Kaileena as his new lover (this part of the plot may be confusing to those who didn't see the alternate ending of Warrior Within). As they pull in to the harbor at Babylon, the duo finds the city under siege. Their ship is wrecked by the invaders, and Kaileena is captured by the enemies. You quickly find that the Vizier is back and responsible for the uprising. He murders Kaileena and unleashes the sands of time upon Babylon, and the prince must battle to regain his kingdom and avenge Kaileena's death.

The sequences you play leads you to be much more aggressive in combat; health is never really a concern as you get recharged fully with each downed enemy, but the puzzle-solving and acrobatic sequences can be taxing because you have a time limit to get from point A to point B. The fighting trends remain the same as in the previous versions in which you could drop or pick weapons and vault on poles and much more. The only added feature in your combat is the stealth-kill mechanic, or “speed kills,” as in the game; this feature can be executed by sneaking up a oblivious enemy and tapping on a button which executes this feature. Overall, the new stealth-kill mechanic is pretty fun and gratifying to do and watch.

Gamers who love solving the environmental puzzles and watching the beautiful environments, which the series is known for, The Two Thrones delivers spades for all.
