Etisalat net profits grow 19% to Dhs8.7b in 2008

Etisalat has announced its preliminary results for 2008, reporting total annual Net Profits of Dhs8.665bn. This shows a growth of 19% over 2007's figures, when the Group recorded Dhs 7.297bn in Net Profits. During the fourth quarter of 2008 the Group recorded a Net Profit of Dhs 2.1bn, before year-end adjustments, reflecting an increase of 18% as compared to the same period in 2007. More

Du touches 3 million subscribers mark in UAE

Du, UAE's integrated telecom service provider, had announced the milestone achievement of 3 million customer base in mobile services on UAE's national day. This has been achieved in just 21 months of operations. This achievement comes shortly after the declaration of the company's first-ever net profit since its inception. Motorola and Mada roll-out WiMAX in Jordan

Motorola, Inc. and Mada today announced they have started the roll-out of an end-to-end 802.16e-based WiMAX network Deployment began in September, and Mada is expected to launch WiMAX services before the end of 2008.
