"APT
Conference recognizes Telecom Success"
says Telenor
Islamabad
December 3, 2005: "The opportunity to
host the 10th Session of the General
Assembly is recognition of the rapid
developments in the ICT sector in
Pakistan," says Tore Johnsen, CEO
Telenor Pakistan. Commenting on Telenor
Pakistan's participation and sponsorship
of the cultural show for the 10th
session of Asia Pacific Telecommunity,
Tore further added, "We are pleased to
contribute to this event. This is the
first time Pakistan is hosting a Telecom
event of this level with representatives
from several regional countries. It is
an opportunity for us to assume a
leading role in important telecom forums
in the region."

PTA Elected President of APT
Islamabad:
Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority (PTA) Major General ® Shahzada
Alam Malik has been unanimously elected
as the President of APT for next three
years term during its General Assembly
(GA) meeting which started here today.
Bangladesh
proposed the name of Major General ®
Shahzada Alam Malik as the President of
APT for next term while Japan and China
endorsed the proposal. Outgoing
President of APT Mr Vinod Vaish of India
was also present in the meeting.
The GA
meeting of APT also elected two Vice
Presidents for the same term. Mr. Tin
Htwe of Myanmar and Mr Charles S. Punaha
of Papua New Guinea were elected
unanimously as Vice Presidents of APT.

Minister applauds Telenor's Performance
ISLAMABAD, November 2, 2005: Prime
Minister Shaukat Aziz, meeting with a
four member delegation of Telenor,
appreciated the current surge of foreign
investment in the country, especially in
the telecom sector and Telenor
Pakistan's major contribution towards
the industry's growth.
Speaking to Chairman, Telenor Pakistan &
CEO Telenor Mobile Arve Johansen, the
Prime Minister expressed his interest in
benefiting from the wide international
experience of Telenor and also applauded
the companies relief efforts in the wake
of the recent tragedy.
