Alcatel-Lucent selected by EMTS to deploy a turnkey mobile cellular network in Nigeria

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Nigeria's Emerging Market Telecom Services Ltd (EMTS), a subsidiary of M/s Etisalat Telecommunication Corporation and M/s Mubadala Development Company, has awarded Alcatel-Lucent a multi-million Euro contract for the deployment of its new mobile cellular network in the country on a turnkey basis. Alcatel-Lucent will also provide network deployment and integration services, as well as related infrastructure such as towers, masts and power systems. The contract was secured through Alcatel-Lucent’s flagship company in China, Alcatel Shanghai Bell. More

Etisalat sets West Africa roaming

Etisalat Carrier and Wholesale Services today announced an agreement to provide access to its international roaming network to Atlantique Telecom’s West African operations. Initially, Atlantique’s operations in Niger and the Ivory Coast will be able to offer their customers the benefits of hundreds roaming agreements, covering all manner of voice, data and value added services before being extended to Benin, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Togo and The Central Africa Republic.
